Abstract
A technique to implement two-dimensional (2-D) H-tree parallel optical interconnect for a 2-D image by using optical iterative processing is proposed. The technique provides an effective interconnect for parallel data communication in a massive information processing system by using the H-tree network topology with several simple optical elements. We describe that the topology is easily obtained by an affine transform, which is effectively implemented with optical iterative processing, and extend the network to the parallel interconnect for 2-D images. We present an optical system to implement the technique. A preliminary experimental system is constructed and its result demonstrates the validity of the proposed technique. The relation between the number of iterations and the number of available pixels in the processed image is analyzed.
