Abstract
Several experiments on plasma antennas are investigated till date. There was remaining consistently confusion over the better gas for plasma column to interact with the electromagnetic frequencies. This paper presents comparison of two kinds of the plasma monopole antennas made of two different gases Neon and Argon. For this experiment two gas tubes filled with neon and argon with pressure of 1 Torr are employed. Conventional high voltage excitation technique is used to ionize the gas. The return loss and the radiation pattern for these two antennas are discussed in this paper. It was examined that both gases yields return loss below -15dB in the range around the optimum frequency.
