Abstract

Distribution is one of the weakest links in India due to poor performances, mainly due to high Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT & C) Losses. Recent inclusion of Distribution Franchisee (DF) is to make the distribution sector financially viable by making efficient operation. This paper sort outs the various challenges faced by a DF and new approach for modeling is proposed to procure the exact technical loss component taking place in the network. Based on this, new approach for billing is proposed based on both kWhr as well as kVAhr, whichever an utility may adopt. This approach not only helps DF to increased their revenue but also motivate the implementation of DF across the territory of Indian power sector.
