Abstract
The requirement for 100% reliability in magnetic cores used in digital computer memories, has led to the development of a number of tests to determine the exact characteristics of the core. However, the most conclusive test to determine the suitability for incorporation of a core in a memory matrix would be to subject each core to a series of drive pulses similar to those likely to be encountered during actual operation. The core is subjected to full drive pulses to switch it between remnant states. In addition, half amplitude disturb pulses are also introduced between the full amplitude `read¿ and `write¿ pulses. The core output is displayed on an oscilloscope to test for switching time and disturbed and undisturbed outputs.
