Abstract
The time domain response of the radiation field of a vertical electric dipole antenna located on a circular metallic disk is considered. The disk which is perfectly conducting is on the surface of a flat homogeneous ground. It is shown that the radiation field approaches the steady-state value within a few carrier cycles. The results are relevant to long-distance high frequency radio propagation when the transmitting or receiving antenna is located over poorly-conducting ground.
