  • Abstract
This paper presents reflective properties of bird-feather fibers. The fibers are modeled as two-dimensional photonic crystals containing a number of pores. The finite element method is used to simulate light scattering by the feathers. Reflectivity becomes relatively higher in the wavelength range from 300[nm] to 500[nm]. Strong light scattering and interference are observed in the fibers.
