Electric-circuit burning-clear and damage phenomena on aircraft structures

Davidson (Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company, East Pittsburgh, Pa.): In testing aircraft cables to determine their ability to burn clear when subjected to faults there are many variables. The problem in aircraft circuits is even more complex than in industrial distribution systems because of the scarcity of data on the nature of faults. In the laboratory logical assumptions must be made to determine comparative effects of different system voltages, available fault current, and the nature of the fault itself.
