Abstract
Carrier Suppressed Return to Zero - Quadrature Differential Phase shift keying (CSRZ - QDPSK) is one of the promising modulation formats for 40 Gbps optical networks. In this paper, a novel scheme with reduced number of MZMs for CSRZ - QDPSK transmitter is demonstrated. A CSRZ Pulse Carver generates pulses from either of the in-phase and quadrature-phase components and is modulated using a Mach Zehnder Modulator. The proposed method achieves the same performance compared to the conventional schemes with reduced number of components at the transmitter end.
