  • Abstract
WikiLeaks has started a new wave in information disseminated to the public. The momentum for a new era of street-level information disclosure of sensitive government information appears to be building quickly worldwide. Hardly had US legislators introduced a bill to stifle entities such as WikiLeaks when two explosive geopolitical situations emerged, thanks at least partly to network-enabled leaks. Ironically enough, while politicians posture by introducing the quashing proposals, one veteran observer of how geopolitics plays out on the Internet says government functionaries seem to be adapting to the new era of embarrassing transparency.
