Abstract
The asynchronous JavaScript and extensible markup language (XML) (AJAX) technologies have revolutionized the world of Web applications in recent years. This work describes some technical issues from the CyberOPC application protocol based on reverse AJAX and JavaScript object notation (JSON) remote procedure call (RPC). Initially created for monitoring computer numerical control (CNC) tools, this application protocol adopts streaming techniques for industrial communication technologies over Internet protocol (IP)-based networks and represents an open and performing alternative for monitoring protocols such as OPC and MTConnect.
