Abstract
The critical-current densities (J c) of Ag-sheathed tapes of oxide superconductors were investigated using both the yttrium and bismuth systems. Using a press process for Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x, BiSrCaCu2 Ox, and Bi0.8Pb0.2SrCaCu2 Ox, increases in J c were inconsistently observed. J c showed an increase for Y 1Ba2Cu3O7-x but not for BiSrCaCu2Ox. The Bi0.8Pb0.2SrCaCu2Ox superconductor also showed increased J c. The press processing improved the superconducting properties of Ag-sheathed wire not only for J c but also for T c. The authors obtained high T c phase T c(R=zero)=104 K and J c=1850 A/cm2 for Bi0.8Pb0.2SrCaCu2O x superconductor
