Abstract
Switched capacitor converter is a power conversion network without participation of magnetic components. In this paper, a Unified Switched Capacitor Converter (USCC) is proposed, which realizes step up, step down, or DC to AC conversion by altering the switch triggering patterns. Additionally, gain modulation based on topology reconfiguration can be achieved. The implementation strategy and features are explored. The efficiency characteristics of switched capacitor converter focusing on charging and discharging processes are analyzed. It is demonstrated that the topology reconfiguration of switched capacitor converter is expected to have high efficiency, for a wide modulation range. The modeling method of USCC is presented. Finally, simulation results of DC-AC conversion and MPPT control validate the wide application possibilities of proposed USCC.
