Abstract
This paper presents the basic concepts of the Magnetic Controlled Shunt Reactor (MCSR) and proposes a stability model for the equipment. The model was derived from the equipment characteristics and should be suitable for studies of low frequencies phenomena. The model is applied in the Brazilian network as an alternative for the solution currently employed.
