Abstract
Continuing development of dielectric heating systems allows much wider use by industry to attain higher levels of production efficiency, savings of energy and materials and in some cases to enable entirely new methods of production to be used. The author reviews the growing use of the more sophisticated electroheating techniques and developments. Dielectric heating for industry employs two different types of power systems each covering a band of frequencies, radio frequencies (RF) (13.56 and 27.12 MHz), and microwaves (896-915 and 2450 MHz). Each power source converts the 50 Hz incoming supply to an output power at the higher frequencies. The author discusses the phenomena of RF and microwave heating and their applications in a wide range of industrial processes
