  • Abstract
    Water treeing is one of the main causes of breakdown of polymeric insulation of extruded power cables submitted to an alternative voltage. An examination is made of the effects of defects induced by water tree growth. Correlations are established between water treeing and mechanical damage. It is concluded that a first segregation of materials can be done by means of well-controlled laboratory tests
