Abstract
In this paper, we use the bicontinuous model, which is a dense random media model, to active and passive microwave remote sensing of terrestrial snow. In terrestrial snow, ice particles aggregate closely together. Wave propagation and scattering are coherent within the range of few wavelengths, so that the mutual wave interactions among ice grains are important. Bicontinuous model (K.-H. Ding, X. Xu, and L. Tsang, IEEE Trans. Geosci. Remote Sens., 48, 8, 3139-3151, 2010) was proposed to accurately model the microstructure of snow.
