Semiautomatic gauge block measurement assurance implementation: NBS Monograph 163 type I system

The following paper describes a semiautomated gauge block calibration and process controlled system. This system uses a gauge block measurement assurance program as outlined in NBS Monograph 163 [1] as a guide for statistical control. Software-controlled gauge block measurements are monitored throughout a typical calibration to statistically detect out-of-control measurements. The system instructs the technician, prepares and edits files, prints from a menu a variety of calibration reports, and plots new control charts at regular intervals.
