Abstract
This paper describes a method to analyze the characteristics of motors taking into account the end-coil effects. Our method has advantages that the effects of the end-coil can be obtained by the 3-D finite element method. Our method is applied to obtain the current waveforms and the torque characteristics of a permanent-magnet motor excited from the square pulse voltage source. The effects of the end-coil by the 3-D finite element analysis are quantitatively clarified
