Abstract
The throughput performance of both nonpersistent and 1-persistent ICMA/CD taking into consideration the effects of random channel noise is analyzed. The numerical results show that for practical values of noise level, these effects are insignificant owing to the greater impact of packet collisions on throughput performance. Additionally, the 1-persistent protocol shows less throughput degradation because packet collisions are more likely to occur in this protocol.
