Abstract
This paper describes how the generalized scalar pulse-width modulation technique used in inverters is adapted to the matrix converters. The technique uses the concept of the two- stage direct power converter and, in particular, three different modulation techniques for matrix converters are exposed by a different point of view. Simulation results show that the most known control strategies for matrix converters can be implemented through this concept. Using this approach, the choice of the best technique based on the weighted total harmonic distortion can be made.
