Abstract
In this paper the experimental implementation of a wind turbine emulator (WTE) for wind energy conversion systems (WECS), using a separately excited DC motor are presented. The model of the wind turbine (WT) and the control of the DC motor are implemented in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The developed WTE allows a WECS to be analyzed without the need of real wind turbines. The WECS consider in this work is composed by a DC motor coupled with a double fed induction machine (DFIM). The DC motor and its control actuate as the WT and the DFIM actuates as the generator. The simulations and experimental results are obtained for a 300 W prototype.
