  • Abstract
Summary form only given. For recording applications in head materials and in double-layered perpendicular recording media, soft magnetic films with high saturation flux density (B/sub s/), low coercivity (H/sub c/), high resistivity, smaller grain size (D), etc. are desired. FeCo is a soft magnetic material with high B/sub s/. However, a single FeCo layer cannot be used because it has a larger D, larger H/sub c/ and low permeability. Recently, we have prepared FeCo/C type of multilayers for application in double layered perpendicular recording media, which showed better performance than FeCo films. In this report, we propose FeCo/FeCo-O multilayers, which showed even better promising properties, for applications in perpendicular recording media and write heads.
