  • Abstract
The authors propose the distributed cooperative multiagent model to create truly intelligent telecommunication networks. In the proposed model, the higher functional layer consists of a distributed cooperative computing environment. The distributed cooperative virtual path (VP) provisioning method is introduced for multiple VP allocation control asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks. The distributed computing environment is composed of SUN workstations. The simulation results show that, although the CPU time for route search in a distributed cooperative computing environment is large compared with that in a centralized computing environment, the distributed cooperative VP allocation in ATM networks operates correctly
