  • Abstract
    This paper presents a novel sensorless direct torque controlled IPM synchronous machine fed by a matrix converter. The input power factor is controlled by applying two active switching combinations in each control cycle. The FFT spectrum analysis shows the better input quality without any negative effect on the output as compared with the classical HDTC. A torque ripple minimization strategy is used to improve the performance of DTC by combining a low-torque-ripple characteristic in steady state with constant switching frequency. An adaptive flux observer is employed to realize sensorless control. The effect of the input filter capacitor on the current is compensated by introducing a correcting angle in the IPF control. Comparisons are carried out experiments to verify the effectiveness and improvement of the proposed method.
