Abstract
This paper presents a reduction technique that transforms large passive networks into minimal admittance networks between the terminals. In this model, the moments of each admittance are preserved exactly, up to any desired order. Any RLC network (e.g. lumped models of coupled transmission lines) can be dealt with, including inductive coupling between lines. This technique, in combination with an algorithm that calculates an optimal sparse approximation of the inverse of positive definite matrices, is very suited for implementation in efficient layout-to-circuit extractors
