Abstract
Summary form only given. The alternating magnetic flux leakage testing is used for the detection of cracks in steel plate. How to detect and distinguish two cracks, which are located at very short distance is one of important issues of this testing. In this paper, a technique of how to detect two cracks which are located at very short distance (for example, 0.5mm) is investigated using the perpendicular (Bz) and parallel (Bx) components of the leakage flux density calculated by 3-D edge-based hexahedral FEM.
