Abstract
Sharp, easy to test conditions for exact controllability of nonlinear systems of neutral type in the state space W 2 (1) are formulated. W 2(1) is the Sobolev space of absolutely continuous functions x whose time derivatives are square integrable on the interval [-h ,0]. Also explored are conditions which guarantee that a null-controllable system is also exactly controllable. Criteria for null controllability of linear systems are given
