Exploitation of unutilized land under ecological limit condition in Ji´nan city

For the aim of ecological security, the unutilized land should be exploited based on its suitability. Taking of unutilized land in Ji´nan city as a case, the paper established comprehensive suitability evaluation model to evaluate the multi-suitability of the unutilized land and to determine its suitable exploitation types. The results showed that limited by ecological factors, the suitable area for cultivated land, for garden plot, for forest land and the unsuitable area for exploitation are respectively accounted for 28.64%, 10.22%, 37.86% and 23.28% of the total unutilized land area. As for the spatial distribution, the unutilized land suitable for cultivated land is widely distributed in the northern plain region, the south along the Yellow River region and central hilly area; the unutilized land suitable for garden plot is mainly distributed in the central hilly area; the unutilized land suitable for forest land is mainly distributed in the south-central hilly area.
