  • Abstract
In order to study the pollution of heavy metals and their effect on aquatic, heavy metal contamination and influence of surface sediment in Hebei Province coastal, China were investigated and evaluated by the average enrichment factors method and the logarithmic attenuation method. The results reveal that the pollution level of heavy metals is in the order of Cangzhou>Tangshan> Qinhuangdao and the higher concentration of heavy metals is distributed in port adjacent coast. The enrichment of As, Zn, Cd, Pb and Hg in sediments has been showed in some extent. The pollution of Hg the risk of As and Hg is higher than other metals. The enrichment and aquatic risk of heavy metals in different coast are in the order of Cangzhou > Tangshan > Qinhuangdao and the response of benthic population over the same period iss obvious. Therefore the heavy metals As and Hg in sediments is the main risk factors of marine ecosystem in Hebei Province and has a greater negative effect on aquatic. The heavy metals As and Hg in sediments should be given priority to control.
