Abstract
The automatic detection of outliers during the post-processing of the data collected by a multibeam echosounder is considered. An algorithm based on median filtering has been used for the detection process. The algorithm is tested and evaluated using synthetic as well as real field multibeam data. The results obtained show that the algorithm detects most of the outliers with minimal data degradation
