Abstract
The choice of the spread bandwidth of a wideband CDMA system has a wide impact on the system performance. In evaluating the performance of wideband CDMA systems, it seems important but difficult to employ a justifiable radio propagation channel model. In this paper, using “k-path” channel model, the dependence of the system performance not only on the spread bandwidth but also on radio propagation channel conditions is examined. The results show that the choice of the best spread bandwidth depends greatly on radio propagation channel conditions. Additionally, we make an attempt to specify the relationship between the spectral efficiency and the reduction of the multipath fading effects with wideband CDMA systems
