Abstract
To offer mobile data communication economically in PHS, the authors propose the packet communication base on I interface (X.31). This method can share the protocol and equipment with PHS speech communication and achieve economical service provision. Next, we discuss data interleaving at the radio station and location registration by packet to make the service even more economical. Moreover, we propose the subscriber data and location data management method that can make the service more convenient for users when speech and packet communication terminals coexist
