Abstract
DSM explicitly refers to all those activities that involve deliberate intervention by the utility in the marketplace so as to alter the consumer´s load profile. Demand side management has been identified as a potent tool to address the peak energy and power deficit in India which stands at 9% and 15.2% respectively. This paper discusses the various demand side management initiatives and policy measures relevant to the Indian Energy Scenario.
