Abstract
This paper proposes an ATM wireless access system (AWA) for tetherless multimedia services. The AWA provides ATM-based high speed transmission capability for multimedia services both indoors and outdoors though mobility is limited compared with current cellular systems. This paper describes the concept of AWA, its network and protocol architecture as well as the wireless system design
