  • Abstract
    This paper presents the set-up and first results of field testing of composite insulators in the Natal province in South Africa. The choice of test objects and monitored parameters is discussed. After one year of experience some deterioration was observed on most commercial composite insulators tested in this coastal environment. Pollution flashover was observed on an EPDM insulator after one year in service
