Abstract
In this paper, we present an application of visual color criterion based on CIE L*a*b data to explore the visibility of fragmented glass, either bare or black matrix, on LCD production lines. The experimental results show that a proper combination of the stage color and the light source is essential to the visual inspection process. Among the white and yellow light sources and the white, black and gray stages, the gray stage with a white light source gives a very performance for visual detecting the presence of fragmented glass in an LCD production line by human eyes
