Abstract
In this paper, the effect of using M-level real code in the pulse-compression radar signals is investigated. For this purpose, the optimum ESM detectors are obtained for both the binary code and M-level code. Then, by comparing their performances, it is shown that the M-level code does not have notable effect on the LPD (low probability of detection) property of the signal. This result is confirmed also by the analytic performance evaluation of the approximated detectors
