  • Abstract
It is advisable to use vacuum arc coatings based on nitrides and carbides of metals to eliminate or inhibit corrosion processes at the metal surface, negatively affecting to usability of materials. Protective properties of vacuum coatings based on TiN depend on the composition, the structure and thickness of the coating, the surface condition prior to process, the presence of the droplet phase. However, corrosive properties of “substrate-coating” system is actively discussing, losing from sight the impact of deformation. At the same time, most of parts operate under influence of loads (tensile loads, compressive loads, dynamic temperature loads, etc.) that significantly affects the protective properties of the coatings. Protective properties of deposited by plasma multilayer Ti-TiN coatings has not been studied almost. Corrosion properties of multilayer Ti-TiN coating under straining conditions was studied. The influence of number of layers and thickness of each layer on the corrosion processes was investigated. It is established that the higher layers number and thinner each layer of coating, the higher it´s corrosion resistance. It can be associated with formation fine-grain structure with high level of grains disorientation. In addition, it was revealed that in straining conditions the optimum corrosion resistance of plasma-assisted thin films is ensured by multilayer coatings.
