Abstract
Computer generated topologies are usually employed to perform extensive simulations in telecommunications networks. In a previous work we have proposed a method to generate networks that resemble the topological characteristics of real ones. In this work, we evaluate the amount of capacity required for each link for working and backup paths and compare the probability distribution of real world networks with computer generated ones. Using statistical tests we verified that the networks generated using the proposed method preserves the capacity allocation probability distribution of real optical networks.
