Abstract
This paper presents a three-phase single-switch discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) boost rectifier using current steering methods to provide attenuation for the input current ripple. A detailed analysis of the concept shows that the effectiveness of ripple attenuation is dependent upon a precise adjustment of the air gap of the coupled inductors used in the current ripple steering structure. The technique can be applied to any DCM or continuous conduction mode (CCM) boost rectifier and some attenuation level of the common mode noise is shown to be possible as well. Experimental results derived from a 3 kW three-phase single-switch DCM boost rectifier support the analysis described hereafter
