Abstract
The European Community has launched a project called Open European Data Interchange and Processing for Electrocardiography (OEDIPE). One major goal of this project is to implement and demonstrate electronic data interchange of digital electrocardiograms (ECGs) following the lines of SCP-ECG standard communications protocol. Programs for data compression have been developed and integrated in conjunction with an ECG analysis program into stand-along ECG carts working with various processors and operating systems. The ECG analysis program has been designed in such a way that median beats can also be analyzed instead of ECG raw data. Reanalysis of decompressed SCP-ECG records leads to the same measurements, diagnostics, and rhythm statements as of the original record
