Personal identification based on both facial images and watermarking techniques in network environment

Personal identification systems based on faces have been studied for many years, and a number of these systems are already in practical use. Identification accuracy, however, is not as sufficient as fingerprint, and must be improved for practical use. Furthermore, facial images must be protected from illegal manipulation. From these points of view, a new identification system based on faces used with watermarks is described. A new algorithm to increase matching ratio as well as distinction accuracy is also presented.
