Abstract
Dual exponentially tapered slot antennas (DETSA) have been widely applied in a lot of communication systems due to high gain, wide bandwidth, and most importantly, ease of integration with planar circuitry. For practical implementation scenarios, it is necessary to maintain high front-to-back ratio (F/B ratio) to guarantee desired system performance. In this paper, we experimentally investigated the effect of edge corrugation profiles on the improvement of F/B ratio for DETSA with antipodal feeding. The results revealed that optimum corrugation configuration led to F/B ratio improvement over a wide bandwidth. We have also investigated the loading effect on the transmitter power amplifier of the corrugated structures theoretically.
