Abstract
SaskTel´s latest residential fiber trial is described. The trial evolved from several smaller trials over the past few years, and includes the use of fiber optic broadband communications and multimedia networks. The trial provides broadband education, entertainment, and other interactive services, plus telemetry and alarms. The project follows SaskTel´s long history of utilizing technological development to offer customers new services for the future. The services filled a gap in the education process by networking the home and school. The author expands on the details of the trial, providing information on the system design, available services, and results.
