Abstract
This paper presented a new implementation of a signal synthesis module capable to generate three waveform types (triangular, square wave, and sinusoidal) in a frequencies range from zero up to 10MHz. The system comprises two main parts: the hardware components (microcontroller, base reference oscillator, LCD, control buttons, LED indicators, PC interface) and the software application realized in this case with LabVlEW graphical programming software. Besides optimal realization using microcontroller, the proposed signal synthesis module has the advantage of a very friendly graphical interface. The generated waveform and its parameters are displayed simultaneously on the LCD display of the module but also on the screen of the PC. The virtual instrument created in LabVlEW allows testing and controlling these parameters using the PC. The communication between signal synthesis module and computer is realized on standard serial interface and allows a reasonable control distance but limits very much the transmission speed. In addition, the synthesis module has the capability to operate as an FSK generator having a square wave signal as carrier
