Abstract
The frequency-domain model for a high phase order transmission (HPOT) system is discussed. This model is suitable for studying traveling-wave generation and propagation in the event of a fault. Transient fault analysis on a sample multiphase system has been carried out using a novel and straightforward technique for Laplace transform inversion. Finally, an amplitude comparison relaying scheme based on traveling-wave phenomena is proposed. A digital implementation of this ultra-high-speed relaying scheme for a six-phase system has been realized
