Abstract
This paper presents a flat monopole over rectangle box ground plane. The monopole element is contributed from copper that coated on surface of the FR4 and rectangle box ground plane is contributed from brass sheets. The antenna provides the frequency range of 1.4-3.4 GHz with the return loss <;-15 dB and average gain of 5.5 dBi. The HPBW is 108 degrees in the horizontal plane and 88 degrees in the vertical plane at the central band. The front-to-back ratios are greater than 8 dB across operating band with the ground plane of 80 mm × 50 mm and height of 35 mm. The antenna is suitable to use as a base station antenna.
