  • Abstract
    A novel design procedure for microstrip spiral antenna is presented. The procedure uses Genetic Algorithm (GA) to achieve a specific goal e.g. wide band, dual band, multi band, etc. In this paper a compact, wide band, and dual band antenna was designed using the GA optimization method. The first antenna compacted by 20% at 2.7GHz and provides 6.8dBi gain and 2.6% bandwidth. The second antenna operates at 4.7GHz and 5.8GHz with 0.9% and 6.5% bandwidth, and 7dBi and 6.5dBi gain, respectively. The last antenna achieved a wide band behavior at X band with 95% efficiency and 7.5dBi gain.
