Abstract
Compared with terrestrial mobile communication systems, the link margin of the mobile satellite system is small due to power limitations. With multipath and shadowing effects as well, the signal attenuation can reach as much as 30 dB when the mobile terminal is working at low elevation angles. A simulation model for the application of channel coding and interleaving is provided. With different interleaving depths, the performance gain is obtained through simulation at different elevation angles and the optimum interleaving depth is presented.
