    Welcome to the 9th IEEE International Conference on Group IV Photonics, San Diego 2012. This conference series began in Hong Kong in 2004, and has been hosted in rotation in Europe, North America and Asia. The conference now returns to North America. We are delighted to see a steady number of submissions, and we are expecting a steady increase in participation from all parts of the world.
